An EPG provides program names, times, and descriptions, commonly through XMLTV data. The player matches each schedule entry to a channel identifier. If the IDs, timezone, source URL, or refresh is wrong, video may work while the guide remains blank.
How matching works
A channel in the playlist and an entry in the guide need corresponding identifiers. Similar display names are not always enough. Automatic mapping works when the service and player use consistent IDs.
Fix a blank guide
Confirm the EPG source is enabled, refresh it manually, and wait for the import. Then check account status and device time. If only a few channels are blank, their source data may not contain listings.
- Refresh playlist and EPG
- Verify date, time, and timezone
- Clear only guide data, then reload
- Report specific affected channels
Fix offset schedules
Use automatic device time first. Remove any manual EPG offset and test again. Apply an offset only when the entire guide is consistently early or late by the same amount.
Frequently asked questions
Why does EPG loading take time?
Schedule files can be large and the player must parse and store them.
Can I add another EPG?
Some players allow it, but channel IDs still need to match and the source must be lawful and trustworthy.
